Girolamo dai Libri Madonna and Child with Saints

Painted for the Augustinian church of San Leonardo nel Monte. The label identifies the saints as Catherine of Alexandria (broken wheel at her right), Leonard (with iron shackles in hand), Augustine (mitre and crozier), and Apollonia (palm branch in left hand, tooth-extractor in right). The peacock in the tree is an ancient symbol of immortality.
